We believe it is important for every resident to be offered a choice of activities to suit their preferences and abilities. Involvement in social activities helps to keep our residents mobile and alert, and encourages them to take an interest in the people and the world around them.

Residents are encouraged to join in with activities whether in a group or one-to-one, although as a former resident said ‘this is a rest Home and I intend to rest!’ The choice is given to each individual.

We employ two full-time Social Activities Coordinators who ensure that a range of activities are organised either on a one-to-one basis or as a group to encourage each resident to join in. A ‘Getting to Know Me’ document is completed with each resident when they move in to the home to better understand their preferences.

Types of Activities

Theatre and other cultural outings, games, discussions, music, hobbies, reading, singing, quizzes and reminiscing are just a few of the activities on offer. The Activities Planner is led by the residents. All major events throughout the year such as Christmas, Easter, Diwali and VE Day are celebrated with parties and in other ways.

“We are and will always be eternally grateful for the space and privacy you afforded us in her last days.”
